1.Taiwan Fisheries Agency Advances Fisheries Labor Inspections Globally (February-September 2023): Taiwan Fisheries Agency (TFA) is actively engaged in a comprehensive labor inspection initiative in Fiji, Cape Town of South Africa and Port Louis of Mauritius, spanning February to September 2023. The primary objective is to safeguard the rights of migrant crew members operating on Taiwanese distant-water fishing vessels. TFA has already carried out 5 labor inspections, inspected 157 vessels and interviewed 740 migrant fishers in 3 above-mentioned places this year.
2.Ministry to launch certificate program for forest therapy: The Ministry of Agriculture plans to roll out a forest therapy certificate program in 2025 at the earliest in a boost to the development of sustainable tourism. Forest therapy benefits a person’s mental and physical health due to the naturally occurring phytoncides and negative air ionization in forests to which people are exposed, Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency Director-General Lin Hua-ching (林華慶) said.
3.KAOHSIUNG FOOD SHOW 2023: the gourmet feast takes center stage: The show kicks off on 26th Oct. and runs for four consecutive days at the Kaohsiung Exhibition Center. The show will showcase gourmet foods, agricultural and aquatic products from Taiwan and around the world. With the theme “Agri & Seafood Delicacy,” the Kaohsiung Food Show, along with the “ KAOHSIUNG HORECA “ jointly organized by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council and Chanchao International, will bring together over 280 well-known domestic and international companies, featuring more than 500 booths covering a wide range of exhibits, including fresh agricultural products, seafood, processed food and beverages, food processing equipment, packaging machinery, cleaning supplies, hotel bedding, and furniture.
