1. MOA Launches “Pet Login Campaign” to Promote Dog and Cat Registration, Offering Pet Vouchers and Health Check-up Subsidies
The Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) has launched the “Pet Login Campaign,” encouraging dog and cat owners to complete or verify their pet registration information online in September for a chance to win NT$300 pet vouchers or health care subsidies of up to NT$3,000. The Department of Animal Protection said registration gives pets an official identity, improves the chances of recovering lost animals, and supports rabies vaccination and sterilization management, helping curb the stray animal problem at its source. Under Taiwan’s Animal Protection Act, dogs and cats must be registered at four months of age. The MOA will offer 30,000 NT$300 pet vouchers, redeemable at more than 400 participating pet stores and farmers’ and fishermen’s association supermarkets, plus 100 NT$3,000 health care subsidies. Owners can enter the draw by verifying their registered pet’s information online from September 1–30, while unregistered pets can qualify by completing registration by the end of September. The draw will be livestreamed on October 2. The Department of Animal Protection urges owners to register their pets and keep their information up to date to better protect companion animals and reduce strays at the source.
