1. Agriculture Ministry Raises Medical Allowance for Farmers under Occupational Injury Insurance to Support Recovery
The Ministry of Agriculture announced a draft amendment to Article 22 of the Pilot Program for Farmers’ Occupational Injury Insurance, raising the daily medical allowance for insured farmers.Under the adjustment, which keeps farmers’ insurance premiums unchanged, those unable to work due to occupational injuries or illnesses will receive increased financial support during their recovery. The daily allowance for hospitalized farmers will rise from NT$900 to NT$1,200, while the allowance for non-hospitalized farmers will increase from NT$50 to NT$100, providing stronger economic assistance during treatment and recuperation.
2. Fisheries Agency Denies Plans to Restrict Shoreline Fishing, Announces Forum on Sustainable Sea Angling
The Fisheries Agency has denied rumors that it plans to restrict shoreline fishing, clarifying that the claim is false and unrelated to its upcoming discussions. As part of efforts to promote the government’s “Embracing the Ocean” initiative and encourage safe, sustainable recreational fishing, the agency will host a public forum on October 20 titled “Discussion on the Management of Recreational Sea Fishing Using Non-Fishing Vessels or Floating Devices.” The meeting aims to enhance dialogue between the fishing industry and recreational fishing groups, focusing on the safety and legality of small vessels and pontoons, reasonable catch limits, and lessons from international best practices. The Fisheries Agency stressed that the forum is for consultation only, with no policy decisions yet made, and seeks to create a balanced approach that benefits both recreational anglers and the fisheries sector.
