1. Agriculture and Innovation Shine on Taiwan's National Day Stage
Taiwan's Double Tenth National Day stage this year featured the theme “Blooming Taiwan,” highlighting agriculture, innovation, technology and the ocean. The Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) showcased over 20 domestic flower varieties and 10 outstanding plant breeds developed by academic and research institutions, combined with a 3D-printed blue and white ocean-inspired framework to symbolize hope and resilience. Featured varieties included anthuriums, spotted orchids, ivy, moth orchids and nephrolepis ferns, representing Taiwan’s floriculture excellence and the nation’s perseverance in the face of challenges. The MOA noted that of Taiwan’s 1,675 registered plant varieties, 1,327 or 80 percent are ornamental plants, underscoring the global competitiveness and innovative strength of Taiwan’s floriculture industry.2.Taiwan's Premium Agricultural Products Debut in Kasama, Japan
The Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) made its first appearance in Kasama City, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan, at the “Kasama Romance” event from October 11 to 13, showcasing Taiwan's seasonal fruits, floral products, and Taiwanese-style pork dishes in a dedicated “Taiwan Pavilion.” The pavilion drew strong interest from Japanese visitors, highlighting Taiwan’s diverse and innovative agricultural offerings. Taiwanese fruits are known for their high quality, rich flavor, and strict food safety controls, with all exports to Japan carrying QR-coded production-traceability information. Taiwan has supplied fruits to local school lunch programs in Ibaraki for seven years, raising awareness and demand for Taiwanese produce. Following Taiwan’s recognition as a classical swine fever-free country by the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) in May, the MOA hopes this event will help reopen Japan’s imports of fresh Taiwanese pork, allowing Japanese consumers to enjoy safe, high-quality Taiwanese pork.
