1.Typhoon Krathon agricultural losses estimated at NT$390 million
Agricultural losses caused by Typhoon Krathon in Taiwan totaled nearly NT$390 million (US$12.06 million) as of Sunday(October 6th ), according to the Ministry of Agriculture.The two administrative areas that sustained the greatest losses were Kaohsiung City at NT$238.6 million (62 percent of the total) and Pingtung County at NT$88.9 million (23 percent of the total), while the most affected crops were bananas, guavas, jujubes, papayas and wax apples, the ministry said.
2. Premier Cho Jung-tai Inspects Typhoon Damage at Fangliao Seawall, Directs Swift Repair Efforts
Typhoon Krathon brought heavy winds and rain, causing a 20 to 30-meter section of the lower Fangliao seawall in Pingtung County's Dazhuang Village to collapse and damaging some seawater pipelines, leading to flooding in several fish farms. On the 5th, Premier Cho Jung-tai visited Pingtung to assess the disaster and received briefings on the seawall damage and fishery impacts from Li Tsung-en, Director of the 7th River Management Office, and Wang Cheng-fang, Acting Director of the Fisheries Agency.
