1.Wildlife advocates to march on October 29: Wildlife advocacy groups are planning a march on Sunday in Taipei to call for ethical controls on stray dogs and cats to mitigate the threat they pose to endangered wildlife. Dogs and cats are harmful to certain populations such as leopard cats, with seven of the 31 tracked by the Ministry of Agriculture falling prey to strays. The ministry has in response designated certain “sensitive” zones where feeding strays is banned, leading to protests from some residents.

3.The four-month fishing period for eel fries begins:This year's eel fry catching season starts on November 1 and ends on March 29, 2024.According to ”Notices for Fishing Eel Fries along the Coast”, fishermen need to submit applications, fill in the fishing logs, and report to the local fishermen's association in order to maintain the sustainable development of the traditional eel fry fishery.
