1.In Response to U.S. Tariff Impact, President Lai Ching-te Vows Full Support for Aquaculture Industry
In light of the global impact of reciprocal U.S. tariffs, President Lai Ching-te visited Chiayi on April 18 to hold a discussion with aquaculture farmers regarding support measures for the tilapia and sea bass industries. President Lai emphasized that the government will not sacrifice the agricultural and fishery sectors for the sake of negotiations. He stated that agriculture and fisheries are the foundation of many livelihoods and must be prioritized. The Chiayi County Government expressed its commitment to fully coordinate with central government support plans and complementary measures to help local producers navigate the tariff crisis.2. Up to NT$1.5 Million in Grants: Ministry of Agriculture Launches “Taiwan Agri-Food Promotion Project” to Boost Overseas Markets
To encourage the international expansion of Taiwanese agricultural products, enhance their high-quality image, and build long-term, stable trade relationships with foreign partners, the Ministry of Agriculture has commissioned the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) to implement the “Taiwan Agri-Food Promotion Project.” The initiative aims to motivate overseas businesses to increase their procurement of Taiwan’s agricultural and fishery products.
